Comprehensive Dental Exam and X-Rays

A Comprehensive Exam is performed for all patients new to the practice. The exam includes an inspection of the face, lips, the lymph nodes of the neck, the jaw and its function, the teeth, the gums, the tongue, the soft tissues of the throat, and the floor of the mouth. During this inspection, an oral cancer screening is being performed. After the general inspection is complete, a tooth-by-tooth evaluation is performed to determine the health of each tooth and the supporting gum tissue.

A comprehensive set of X-rays is taken at the time of the new patient exam. X-rays are necessary to diagnose the presence (or absence) of disease. At Waldron Smile Center use digital X-rays and panoramic X-ray equipment to give us the quality X-rays we need while reducing the exposure to our patients to the least possible amount. 

• Brush your teeth twice a day with an ADA-accepted fluoride toothpaste.

• Replace your toothbrush every three or four months, or sooner if the bristles are frayed, because a worn toothbrush won’t do a good job of cleaning your teeth.

• Clean between teeth daily with floss or an interdental cleaner.

• Eat a balanced diet and limit snacks between meals.



• Visit your Family Dentist in Middletown twice a year for professional cleanings and oral exams.
